InterNations Bay Essence Interview Crystal Manafi

The expat community in Chile is great, and sites like InterNations make it easy for people to network, communicate through forums, seek advice from other foreigners, get tips, information, guides and resources, etc. which helps brave souls prepare for the big move and create a place where foreigners feel more at home once they are abroad.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten some great tips through other expats ranging from all sorts of topics like events, which phone company doesn’t charge for international roaming, good places to eat and chill, job opportunities, housing and hostel recommendations, visa/travel information, and the list goes on and on. If you’re moving abroad or are already an expat, I recommend joining some of these groups to help you settle into your host country.

Here are a couple other expat sites/groups that you might find helpful:

ChileSpouses (Yahoo! Group, requires an invite)
Expats in Chile Network
International Association of Chile
International Professional Women’s Association in Chile
ExpatFinder
Expat Arrivals*
Expat-Blog*
Expat Focus*

*Our blog is also listed on these sites.

  • Congratulations! I’ve only ever been to San Pedro de Atacama in Chile, but I’m heading back to South America next year and I’m definitely planning on doing a lot more in Chile this time around.

  • Thanks Samuel!
San Pedro was one of my first trips in Chile and it was one of the most impressive, but there is sooooo much more to see in Chile. Let me know if you need any tips during your visit!
